GTBIT Hosts Thrilling Two-Day Sports Meet, Celebrating Athletic Excellence and Team Spirit

New Delhi, [13th February 2025] – Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology (GTBIT) successfully hosted its highly anticipated Two-Day Sports Meet on 11th-12th February 2025, bringing together students, faculty, and sports enthusiasts for an exhilarating celebration of athletic talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The event, held at the Khatu Shyam Stadium, witnessed record participation across various sporting disciplines, highlighting the institute’s commitment to holistic student development.


The Sports Meet commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony, graced by esteemed dignitaries from Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee namely

The distinguished guests along with Director, Dr. Rominder Kaur Randhawa, HoDs, Sports Committee members, officially inaugurated the event with a flag hoisting ceremony alongside the national anthem and followed by the release of tri-coloured balloons by the dignitaries. This was followed by lighting of the ceremonial torch, symbolizing the spirit of competition and perseverance. Their inspiring addresses emphasized the significance of sports in fostering leadership, resilience and a healthy lifestyle. After the oath taking ceremony, an electrifying and resplendent Bhangra Performance by an all girls team enthralled everyone present. It was also a beautiful display of women empowerment and teamwork.

Day 1: Track and Field Events Take Center Stage

The first day of the Sports Meet was dominated by high-energy track and field events, including: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, relay races, shot put and discuss throw. Badminton, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball were also part of the Sports Meet. Gatka was a very special highlight of the Sports Meet. Kabaddi and Tug of War too saw incredible participation by the students.

Fun races for the Staff and the Students (lemon & spoon race and blindfold race) captured everyone’s imaginations and was a huge hit.

The stadium buzzed with excitement as athletes showcased their speed, strength and agility. The presence of enthusiastic spectators and cheering squads further elevated the competitive spirit.

Day 2: Intense Team Sports and Indoor Challenges

The second day was marked by thrilling team sports and indoor games, featuring: Chess and Carrom competitions for strategic minds both for the staff and the students. Three legged race for the female staff. Cricket boys, girls and men staff stole the show with sensational teamplay, enthusiastic participation and great commentary from the stands. Football action came alive with some exhilarating teamwork by the student teams.

Each match displayed extraordinary teamwork, strategic play and sheer determination, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats. The finals of various events witnessed nail-biting finishes, with students demonstrating remarkable sportsmanship and resilience.

Special Highlights and Notable Achievements

Several students participated in the track and field events, showcasing their exceptional athleticism.

GTBIT’s female athletes delivered remarkable performances across multiple categories, reflecting the institute’s emphasis on gender inclusivity in sports.

The Sports Meet also emphasized fitness awareness and the importance of regular physical activity and mental well-being.

Grand Finale – Prize Distribution and Valedictory Ceremony

The Sports Meet concluded with a grand prize distribution ceremony, where winners were honoured with medals and trophies by the esteemed Director, Dr. Rominder Kaur Randhawa. In her closing remarks, she congratulated all the participants and encouraged students to integrate sports into their daily lives for overall development.

“The energy and enthusiasm displayed by our students during this Sports Meet have been truly inspiring. At GTBIT, we believe that education and sports go hand in hand in shaping well-rounded individuals,” she remarked. She also congratulated the sports coordinator Dr. Manisha Mittal for her commendable efforts and the members of the organising committee, Dr. Simmi Singh, Dr. PK Virmani, S. Harvinder Singh for their creditable efforts as well as all the committee Convenors and student sports volunteers for the great work done by one and all.

This was followed by a thrilling Bhangra Performance by S. Harvinder Singh. He was joined by the staff, who matched steps with him, once again reinforcing the spirit of joy and good health.

The GTBIT Two-Day Sports Meet 2025 was a resounding success, fostering a spirit of camaraderie, discipline and healthy competition. The institute aims to further expand its sports infrastructure and continue organizing such events to nurture young sporting talents.

AARAMBH 2.0 – Inter-College Sports Tournament

Under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Chairperson Ma'am, Hon'ble Co-Chairman Sir, and the esteemed guidance of Director, Dr. Rominder Kaur Randhawa, the GTBIT Sports Society successfully organized AARAMBH 2.0, a prestigious two-day Inter-College Sports Tournament that celebrated sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and competitive excellence.

The tournament brought together 25+ colleges, 25+ teams, and over 200 participants from across Delhi, providing a vibrant platform for young athletes to showcase their talent and foster inter-collegiate camaraderie. Competitions were conducted in Football, Volleyball, Badminton, and Chess, witnessing intense competition, exceptional performances, and remarkable sporting spirit throughout the event.

The successful planning, coordination, and execution of the tournament were led by Dr. Manisha Mittal (Sports In-Charge) along with Sh. Harvinder Singh Ji, with the wholehearted support and dedicated efforts of the teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, and supporting staff of GTBIT. Their collective commitment ensured the smooth conduct and grand success of every event.

The tournament concluded with a grand Prize Distribution and Felicitation Ceremony, graciously attended by the Hon'ble Chairperson Ma'am, Hon'ble Co-Chairman Sir, and Director, Dr. Rominder Kaur Randhawa, who inspired the participants with their encouraging presence and felicitated the winners for their outstanding performances.
