One Week
Faculty Development Programme on “Hands-On Generative AI: Practical Tools for
Educators and Researchers”
Organised
by:
Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology,
CSE-DS and CSE-AIML
Institution: Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology (GTBIT), Delhi
Dates: 14–18 October 2026
Mode: Hybrid
Speaker: Mr. Adhiraj
Number of Registered Participants: 69
Day 1:
Introduction to Generative AI
The
first day introduced Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and its
applications in education and research. Mr. Adhiraj explained the fundamentals
of Large Language Models (LLMs), including ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and
Anthropic Claude. Participants explored prompt engineering techniques for
obtaining relevant and accurate responses. The session highlighted the role of
GenAI in academic content creation and knowledge sharing. Practical examples
demonstrated how these tools can support teaching and research activities.
Day 2:
GenAI for Teaching and Content Development
The
second day focused on using Generative AI to enhance teaching and learning
practices. Participants explored AI-assisted preparation of lecture notes,
presentations, assignments, question papers, and case studies. The speaker
demonstrated effective prompting techniques for generating structured
educational content. Discussions covered the use of AI to simplify complex
concepts and develop interactive learning resources. Emphasis was placed on
reviewing AI-generated content for accuracy and academic relevance.
Day 3:
AI for Coding, Data Analysis, and Research
The
third day explored the applications of GenAI in programming, data analysis, and
research workflows. Participants learned how AI tools can assist with code
generation, debugging, and algorithm explanations. The session demonstrated the
use of AI for analysing data trends and interpreting results. Participants were
also introduced to Deep Research capabilities for gathering and summarising
information from online sources. The importance of validating AI-generated
results and verifying information was highlighted.
Additionally,
Mr. Anubhav, Product Manager at Axis Max Life, joined the programme for a
special session on industry expectations regarding Generative AI literacy. He
shared insights into the growing importance of GenAI skills in the corporate
sector and discussed how professionals can leverage AI tools to improve
productivity and problem-solving. The session helped participants understand
the skills and competencies expected from graduates and professionals in an
AI-driven workplace.
Day 4:
AI-Powered Literature Review Using Elicit
The
fourth day focused on Elicit, an AI-powered platform for academic literature
discovery and research synthesis. Participants learned how to identify relevant
research papers based on specific research questions. The session demonstrated
how to summarise studies and extract important information from multiple
research papers. Participants explored comparing findings and organising
evidence to support literature reviews. The platform's potential to reduce
repetitive research tasks and improve research efficiency was discussed.
Day 5:
Research Assistance Using SciSpace
The
fifth day focused on SciSpace and its applications in understanding and
analysing scholarly literature. Participants explored AI-powered reading
assistance for simplifying complex scientific concepts. The session
demonstrated how to summarise research papers, analyse PDF documents, and
extract key findings. Discussions covered the use of AI tools for literature
reviews and research synthesis. The programme concluded by emphasising
responsible AI adoption, source verification, and maintaining academic
integrity in research.
