& LED Simulation Workshop
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE),
Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology (GTBIT), organized a Solar Cell &
LED Simulation Workshop in collaboration with Impulse Technology and FLUXiM on
21 August 2026 at the ECE Department Lab, GTBIT. The workshop received an
excellent response, with more than 80 students participating enthusiastically.
The workshop was conducted by an Application Engineer from Impulse
Technology, who provided students with hands-on exposure to SETFOS and LUMOS
simulation software used for modelling and analysis of optoelectronic devices.
The participants learned how solar cells and LED devices can be modelled
optically and electrically and how simulation tools can be used to evaluate
important parameters such as open-circuit voltage short-circuit current, fill
factor, efficiency, and other device characteristics.


A major highlight of the workshop was the demonstration of LUMOS for
LED module simulation. Students explored current spreading and electrical
uniformity across LED photovoltaic modules and understood how simulation-based
design can identify potential performance issues before fabrication. The
practical demonstrations also highlighted the role of simulation in reducing
design errors, material wastage, development time, and fabrication costs.
The workshop successfully bridged theoretical concepts with
practical simulation techniques and encouraged students to pursue research,
innovation, and industry-oriented applications in optoelectronics,
photovoltaic, solar-cell technology, and LED devices.
The
workshop was organized by Prof. Neeraj Kant, Prof. R.P Singh, and the ECE team
under the guidance of Dr. Gurmeet Singh, HOD (ECE). The event coordination was
supported by Dr. Manisha Mittal and Dr. Mahender Singh.
