Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Successful Completed 50-Hour Summer Training Program on MATLAB-Based Applications in 5G and 6G Networks


The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology (GTBIT), successfully organized a 50-hour In-House Summer Training Program on "MATLAB-Based Applications in 5G and 6G Networks" from 29 June to 24 July 2026. The programme was aimed at equipping students with cutting-edge technical skills and providing hands-on exposure to next-generation wireless communication technologies.


The training covered a wide range of advanced topics, including MATLAB and Simulink, Digital Communication Systems, 5G New Radio (NR), Massive MIMO, Beamforming, mmWave and THz Communications, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), and AI/ML applications for 6G networks. Through practical sessions and interactive learning, students gained valuable industry-relevant knowledge and enhanced their technical competencies.

The programme was successfully coordinated and organized by Dr. Mahender Singh, Dr. Manisha Mittal, and Dr. Gurmeet Singh, whose dedicated efforts, meticulous planning, and unwavering commitment played a pivotal role in making the event a grand success. Their collective vision and enthusiasm ensured a rich learning experience for all participants while fostering innovation and research-oriented thinking among students.
A major highlight of the programme was the expert lecture delivered by Prof. Vivek Ashok Bohara, Dean (Innovation, Research and Development), IIIT Delhi, on "From RF to Light to Space: The Evolution of Next-Generation Wireless Communications." The session inspired students to explore emerging research avenues in wireless communication and related technologies.
The training programme also included an educational visit to DRDO–Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL), where students gained first-hand exposure to advanced semiconductor fabrication facilities and cutting-edge defence technologies.
The concluding sessions featured insightful talks by Dr. Ram Ashish Chouksey, "Scientist F"on "DRDO Schemes for Academia" and Dr. Rupesh Kumar Chaubey, " Scientist F" on "Modern Warfare and Semiconductor Technology: The SSPL Perspective on India's Electronic Defence." These sessions provided valuable insights into research opportunities, indigenous technologies, and the future of semiconductor-based defence systems.
