Cadets Scale New Heights of Excellence
SUO Gaurav Kumar and JUO Ishkant Sharma Successfully
Completed the Prestigious 10-Day Adventure Camp at ABVIMAS, Manali
SUO Gaurav Kumar and JUO Ishkant Sharma, students of Information Technology, proudly represented GTBIT NCC by participating in the prestigious 10-Day Adventure Camp conducted at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS), Manali. SUO Gaurav Kumar attended the camp from 25 April to 4 May 2026, while JUO Ishkant Sharma participated from 13 July to 22 July 2026.
The Adventure Camp provided intensive adventure and leadership training, encompassing a wide range of challenging outdoor activities, including Rock Climbing, Rappelling, Artificial Wall Climbing, River Crossing, High-Altitude Trekking, Tent Pitching, and Mountaineering Knot Training. The cadets also attended expert sessions on mountain safety, rescue techniques, expedition planning, environmental awareness, and survival in high-altitude conditions, equipping them with valuable technical knowledge and practical skills.
As part of the programme, the cadets
successfully completed demanding treks to Solang
Valley, Phatru (9,500 ft), Anjani Mahadev Temple, and Hidimba Temple, where
they demonstrated exceptional endurance, resilience, teamwork, adaptability,
and determination while overcoming the challenges of mountainous terrain.
The Adventure
Camp proved to be a transformative learning experience, significantly
enhancing the cadets' physical fitness,
mental resilience, leadership qualities, discipline, teamwork, decision-making
abilities, and self-confidence. The rigorous training also strengthened
their ability to perform effectively under pressure, adapt to unfamiliar
environments, and lead with confidence.
Participation in such prestigious NCC Adventure Camps is considered a
significant milestone in a cadet's journey. It broadens their outlook, instils
the spirit of adventure and self-reliance, and prepares them to face
challenging situations with courage and composure. The experience also
strengthens their profile for future opportunities within the NCC, including advanced camps,
national-level activities, and the Youth
Exchange Programme (YEP), while fostering qualities that are highly valued
in the Armed Forces, civil services, corporate leadership, and other
professional careers. Above all, the camp reinforces the core NCC values of "Unity and Discipline", inspiring cadets to become
responsible, resilient, and service-oriented citizens committed to
nation-building.
