Applied Sciences Fest Tarang 2025: A Grand Celebration of Innovation and Creativity

The Department of Applied Sciences at Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology hosted an exuberant and intellectually enriching Applied Sciences Fest named “Tarang” on 28th February 2025, a date of profound significance as it marks the National Science Day. Despite the impending mid-term examinations commencing on 3rd March, the department remained resolute in its commitment to celebrating the day, underscoring the unwavering spirit of scientific inquiry and innovation. The festivities commenced with an intricately designed Rangoli competition, where participants translated the essence of Sustainable Development into vivid, thought-provoking patterns. The morning witnessed a cascade of engaging competitions, including poster making, flower arrangement, spell-bee, Just-A-Minute, project display, best-out-of-waste, mathematics quiz and science games. Enthusiasm soared as students tested their skills in "Spin the Wheel," simulation project displays, vocabulary challenges and a marketing-based activity, each event meticulously curated to challenge intellect and foster creative expression. The formal inauguration of the fest took place at 12:00 PM, graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Rominder Kaur Randhawa, Director of GTBIT. In her inaugural address, she eloquently highlighted the importance of the National Science Day and the pivotal role of scientific advancements in shaping a bright and sustainable future. The inauguration was followed by a high-tea session, where guests and faculty indulged in an array of delectable refreshments, fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie and celebration.Adding to the vibrancy of the event, the Wall Magazine was adorned with captivating and thoughtprovoking posters prepared by students, offering a visual narrative of the scientific themes. The participation of faculty members and staff, elegantly dressed in traditional saris, infused the event with grace and tradition. Faculty members from various departments also graced the occasion, appreciating the efforts and ingenuity displayed by the students.A major highlight of the fest was the array of stalls set up outside, offering students a delightful experience beyond the competitions. These stalls, featuring an assortment of engaging activities and treats, provided a lively break from the competitive events, making the fest even more inclusive and dynamic. The evening session commenced with the much-anticipated project-competition results, culminating in a prize distribution ceremony at 4:00 PM. The winners of various events were felicitated by Director ma’amherself. Each competition adhered to a stringent judging criterion focusing on creativity, originality, neatness and overall impact of presentation, ensuring a high standard of excellence. As the fest approached its grand finale, the joyous cake-cutting ceremony at 5:30 PM, led by Director Ma’am, symbolized the success and collective spirit of the event. As a heartfelt token of appreciation, all faculty members were presented with beautifully designed commemorative mugs, a keepsake to cherish the memories of this spectacular day.The Applied Sciences Fest 2025 was not merely an event but a celebration of intellect, creativity and perseverance. The unwavering dedication of students and faculty, despite academic commitments, exemplified the true essence of scientific enthusiasm. With its seamless blend of knowledge, innovationand festivity, the event left an indelible mark, reinforcing the department’s ethos of fostering scientific temperament and excellence.
